ANCIENT WARRIOR HANIWATT VOL. 2

A mysterious, powerful being, resembling an ancient idol, appears in the city of Nagano Zenkōji, in Nagano Prefecture. The city descends into panic as the creature continues its march of destruction, carnage, and terror. But there are those who had foreseen the arrival of this day and have been preparing for a long time. In such a desperate situation, the only hope is a group of ancient warriors...the Haniwatt! This is the story of the continuous influence that the gods have had on humanity, and of the drama of those who dared to oppose them. The success of Taketomi’s manga has given life to a project that will see the production, in Japan, of a tokusatsu (live-action). This should come as no surprise; the style of Kenzi Taketomi (who is a highly regarded author in his homeland) is not modern and does not conform to current stylistic trends. Taketomi is a master, with his own very personal, scratched trait—not precise but effective—much closer to the great masters of the late '60s / '70s like Nagai, Ishimori, and Yokoyama. And Ancient Warrior HANIWATT (which sensei Taketomi had already created in embryonic form during his school years) is deeply inspired by the classic screenplays of these great masters, with contemporary solutions that make the story fascinating and compelling. Reading Volume #1 will leave you breathless from the first to the last page.
