BUDDHA 5

At the beginning of the seventies, Osamu Tezuka had already been one of the most famous and experienced mangaka on the scene for over a decade. In 1972, he began one of his most ambitious undertakings: a comic book biography of Gautama Buddha, the mystic and philosopher who founded Buddhism, born in the 6th century B.C. A project that would take ten years and result in a unique work, which combines historical precision with forays into fantasy and humor as a means to convey the themes and values so dear to the author. The fascinating figure of the protagonist and Tezuka's extraordinary storytelling gifts make this a must-read experience even today.
