GAIKING 1 (OF 2)

Released simultaneously with the 1976 Toei Animation series, the Gaiking manga by Yuji Hosui tells the story of Zela, a planet made prosperous by an advanced civilization. But its sun, once a source of life, has turned into a black hole that swallows everything. Led by Darius, an artificial deity, the inhabitants of Zela attempt to ensure their survival by targeting the third planet of a system 6,000 light-years away: Earth! But on that backward planet, they clash with Dr. Daimonji, who, at the head of a group of youths he personally selected, opposes the invasion with the Space Dragon, a gigantic mobile fortress, and the Gaiking, a powerful robot piloted by Sanshiro Tsuwabuki.
