Hive Ghenos Games Board Games

Two fierce groups of insects fight by writhing, moving, and swarming against one another in an attempt to imprison the opposing queen bee: ants nimbly move throughout the formation, grasshoppers jump from one side to the other, spiders crawl along the edges, while the heavy beetles climb over other insects.

Hive undoubtedly belongs to the category of abstract games, in terms of mechanics and simplicity of rules. Nevertheless, the strong characterization of the pieces and the graphics help to give the game a soul, and at times one really gets the impression of controlling an army of insects.

In Hive, each player controls hexagonal pieces representing 5 different types of invertebrate creatures. There is no map or board, but the pieces themselves form the playing field by touching one another.
