HOKUSAI - THE SOUL OF JAPAN

Much of what we know about Japan is owed to the master Hokusai (1760-1849), the first Japanese artist to become famous outside the East for the combination of beauty, strength, and harmony in his art: from the thirty-six iconic views of Mount Fuji to the Great Wave off Kanagawa, from the enchantment of geishas to the grace of cherry blossoms, from samurai to dragons. Hokusai created Japan in the modern collective imagination. His life and work are recounted in a graphic novel that introduces a journey through images into the culture and lifestyle of Japan.
