The Japanese government has legalized a nightmare: notifying a person of their death within the next 24 hours via an “ikigami” – a death notice. Every Japanese citizen carries a lethal poison capsule in their body, ready to release for those who have received an ikigami. These random executions aim to remind the population of the importance of life. Each volume revolves around the different stories of people who have received an “ikigami,” following them through the final twenty-four hours of their existence.
