Pierre Joubert (1910-2002) is one of the masters of French illustration, particularly celebrated for his work related to the Scout movement, to which he dedicated his entire life. His visual imagery, devoted to adventure, friendship, and the splendor of the wild, culminated in 1989 with this edition of Kipling’s stories, in which the man-cub Mowgli, the panther Bagheera, the python Kaa, and the other characters that have animated the Indian jungle since 1894 found their most expressive portraits. The book features an abridgment of the two original Jungle Books, aimed at prioritizing Mowgli's adventures. An essential work for all lovers of classic illustration, through which to discover or rediscover timeless pages.
