NEXT WORLD - REGULAR

As the looming war between the Federation of Uranus and the Republic of the Stars threatens the future of mankind, Dr. Yamadano discovers a strange creature, half-man and half-animal. Nuclear experiments have created these new life forms, the Fumoon, as a side effect. What are the world superpowers’ intentions toward them? And how will these new, unpredictable beings react? Thus begins this choral science fiction saga that involves many of Osamu Tezuka’s recurring characters, many of whom make their first appearance here. Created in the early fifties and inspired by the visionary outlook of H.G. Wells, Next World is the most imposing of the futuristic worlds imagined by Tezuka, who blends science fiction, espionage, and a ruthless satire of the Cold War into this story.
