SEVENTEEN

Baron Yoshimoto, one of the manga artists who built the gekiga boom in the sixties, finally arrives in Italy with this gripping anthology of short stories from the seventies, a lucid snapshot of a rebellious youth grappling with conflict, shame, and difficult circumstances. A draftsman, adventurer, and "character" in his own right, at the height of his popularity Yoshimoto left Japan for the United States, only to return in 1985. After returning to his homeland, he also began to devote himself to painting, inaugurating an innovative hyper-realistic style in collaboration with the great Katsuya Terada.
