The experience brought by Cristiano Ronaldo leads PES 2013 back to the roots of the series, with an emphasis focused on the personal skills of the best players in the world and the ability to choose, in total freedom, any style of play. PES 2013 will include, for the first time, complete control over shots: this new feature - the result of advice from PES fans around the world - will give life to the most faithful and authentic transposition of the game of football ever, where players will perfectly embody the movements, skills, and style of play of their real-life counterparts.

The new features and improvements in PES 2013 will be based on three fundamental components: PES FullControl, Player ID, and ProActive AI.

PES FullControl (PES FC): A football video game has never offered this level of ball and player control!

Total freedom of control: Pro Evolution Soccer introduced the concept of freedom of movement, but the new “PES FC” in PES 2013 goes much further, guaranteeing total freedom of control over the ball.

Dynamic first touches: PES 2013 introduces various ways to receive the ball, from a simple stop with a quick touch towards an attacker who has followed the action, to a wide variety of other moves. The first touch is fundamental, and players can stop the ball using the R2 button to perfectly take advantage of a good pass and immediately take control of it, or use the pass to get past an opponent.

Fully manual shooting and passing: PES 2013 reintroduces manual passing and, for the first time, manual shooting, allowing users to determine the power and height of every single shot. It is possible to make long passes to any part of the pitch and have total control over the direction of the shot. Mastering these features obviously requires skill and precision, but it is possible to pass into open areas of the pitch, allowing unmarked attackers to reach the ball and thus have a great opportunity to score.

Dribbling: the speed at which a player moves with the ball has been slowed down in line with real matches; by using the R2 button, players will be able to take advantage of their personal style in close control. It is possible to vary your dribbling speed and stop the ball while moving freely in a 360-degree circle. The new system allows you to knock the ball forward and then recover it, get past an opponent with a nutmeg, or maintain ball control while shielding it as teammates get open and make runs.

Fully manual one-twos: active one-two passes can be executed with the second player moving in any direction, thus facilitating various tactical movements.

Active defending: countering the attacking options offered by the new dribbling system, we find an excellently balanced defensive system. Players can use R2 and X to slow down an attack, with a double tap of the X button requiring a certain amount of timing. Full 360-degree control means that players can track runs and steal the ball from a parallel position, while the greater focus on individual characteristics will see world-class defenders use their physicality in aerial duels to win the ball.

Goalkeepers: goalkeepers also benefit from greater control, with even more precise passing capabilities thanks to the addition of a power bar for distribution, which can thus be utilized more for quick counterattacks.

Player ID: Focuses above all on the individual characteristics and movements that each player can perform:

Greater player individuality: the best players in PES 2013 will be immediately recognizable through their incredible resemblance to their real-life counterparts and a series of characteristics, skills, and typical moves. The way they sprint, turn, stop and control the ball, set themselves up to shoot, or celebrate a goal will be easily distinguishable.

Greater personality for goalkeepers: goalkeepers will also boast greater individuality between the posts. Their actions have been enriched with new animations and styles of play. New saves and reactions have been added to ensure a certain correspondence with their respective real-life counterparts. This level of realism also extends to the best goalkeepers in the game, with their moves to stop attackers, their dives to deflect a shot over the goal, and their numerous acrobatics. Moves that boast a series of new animations and new artificial intelligence.

ProActive AI: The new ProActive AI system combines control and realism, with players who will respond and get open, just as one would expect from champions of their caliber:

Game balance: the PES 2013 development team has worked closely with PES fans to eliminate any unrealistic elements in player behavior. The result is the new ProActive AI system that improves speed and balance, guaranteeing an even more realistic gaming experience.

Tactical precision: the game balance between defense and attack has also been improved and now offers greater team organization in both attacking and defensive maneuvers: Players react faster to game situations, implementing quick counterattacks.

Improved goalkeepers: the improvement of goalkeepers was the most requested adjustment by football fans for PES 2013. For this reason, the development team has collaborated with real goalkeepers to ensure they significantly evolve the game's artificial intelligence. Now, goalkeepers react more realistically, blocking attacks more effectively and clearing the ball rather than directing it into dangerous areas.

The popular myPES application will extend connectivity and communication between PES users who use Facebook, while the game’s sound effects will be even more similar to those heard when truly taking the field, with that typical background noise that can be heard in the most important matches and the crowd changing its reaction based on the attitude of their team.
